Design Your Life: Week 8

This was the second week in my online scrapbooking class, Design Your Life, for the topic of Emphasis. This week was focused on using enlargements to create emphasis.

Layout 1: Ashley's Baby Shower

DYL Week 8

Another single 11 x 8.5 page template that I converted to a two-page 12 x 12 spread. I'm not totally thrilled with this page, but see that little button on the right? I made it! I made it with these buttons that I bought from Designer Digitals' Quarterly Sale. I also love that I have TONS of embellishments that I've downloaded from all over the internet, and I'm finally working on learning to use more of those, like the butterflies on the left.

Journaling Reads:
Cassandra hosted a baby shower for Samuel’s wife Ashley. We had a blast playing baby-themed Scattegories. We guessed how big Ashley’s belly was. And Ashley opened some really cute gifts! What a fun November afternoon with the Lamb women!

Layout 2: Pure Michigan

DONE Week 8 Layout 2 Sketch BLOG

This template is what Cathy calls the Magazine Feature Approach. I have made a few layouts like this before, and I absolutely love it. I love having one huge enlargement filling one page, then including a ton of pictures or a ton of text on the opposite page. I love this layout. I love the photos, I love that the journaling block and the text are faded gray so they don't compete with the colorful photos, and I love that this looks like a magazine ad. One of my favorite scrapbook layouts ever!

Journaling Reads:
Wine tasting - Blogging - Antique shops Brie and crackers - Sleeping in Sunset on the beach
Chatting until 2am - Winery lunch - Apple orchards - Pumpkin patches - Hot chocolate
Concord grapes - Getting a little “drunkedy-drunk”

Layout 3 Real World Color:

DYL Week 8

The Real World Color assignment this week was to use blue and brown. I'm running low on "events" to scrapbook from 2009, so I thought I'd do a "Miscellaneous Photos from..." type page to get those photos that don't get their owns layouts down on a page. I also tried to use more embellishments on this page...this time a couple things from Katie Pertiet's Going Away Collection at Designer Digitals.

Friday Gratitudes

I’m glad my hubby had a good time at the farm show on Friday, and I got some quiet time to get a head start on my weekend to-do list.

I’m so excited that the Amazing Race started Sunday night. One of the only shows on TV I enjoy watching.

I’m glad Rodney’s grain trailer got delivered on Wednesday so maybe I won’t have to hear about it every evening anymore. =)

I’m thankful for my treadmill and that I was able to run 20 minutes after work on Wednesday and burn off some serious frustration. I felt 100% better afterward.

I’m grateful for my husband, who can tell in one phone call that I’m having a crappy day and takes care of making supper while I’m running off my work day.

I’m thankful for Designer Digitals. Tons of digi scrapping inspiration, and tons of products to spend my money on! Their Quarterly Sale is going on right now, so if you've been thinking about trying some digi scrapping...now's the time to stock up!!

I’ve said it a few times already, but I’m thankful I decided to commit several months and some money to my Library of Memories class. This week I’m working on a system to back up my digital pictures online. With as many pictures as I take, I’d be devastated to lose them.

I'm thankful for sunshine.

I’m grateful for a short stack of Thin Mints and a new Spiced Punkin Pie Candleberry Co. candle burning on my desk this morning.

I'm thankful for family stories.
