This week I thought I'd share the templates we had to start with, so you can see how I tweak or change them to suit the number of pictures I want to scrap, my style, etc. I use Photoshop CS3 to do this, but you could just as easily do it in Photoshop Elements.
Layout 1: Indianapolis Children's Museum

As you can see, these were supposed to be 11" x 8.5" pages, but since I'm using this class to make my 2009 photo book and I plan for it to be a 12" x 12" book, I just added extra "white space" around the original 11" x 8.5" pages. I really like the layout and style of the left page of this layout.

Journaling Reads:
March 14, 2009 - Cass and I took a photo field trip to the Children’s Museum of Indianapolis. By far my favorite attraction at the Museum is Chihuly’s Fireworks of Glass. 3200 different pieces of hand-blown glass weighing 18,000 pounds and over 48 feet tall. So cool! I also really loved the glass pieces in the ceiling when you go down under the sculpture. There was a rotating couch to lay back on and look at the 1600 pieces of glass above. Cass was totally oblivious to all the kids running around her! We also checked out the Dinosphere and the Power of Children exhibits and we had so much fun.
Layout 2 - Thanksgiving 2009

This layout was intended to be a one-pager, but since I had more pictures I wanted to include than would fit on one page, I used the same template for both pages, and altered it on the second page (removed the journaling block and title and replaced them with another picture).

Journaling Reads:
November 26, 2009 - We had Thanksigiving at Dad and Jenny’s again this year and we were lucky enough that Joshy was able to come up from Georgia and join us. He was cracking us all up and amazing us with his reading and spelling skills (he’s in kindergarten!). We also had fun again with the Photo Booth on my laptop and took plenty of pictures.

Real World Color Layout: Bachelorettes

For the Real World Color layout, we're provided with a template and a color palette, inspired by something in real life. This week the color palette was gray, red, green, and white. Sometimes I tweak the color palette a little, but this time I left it alone. I did change it to 12" x 12" and added lots of extra pictures.

Journaling Reads:
Cheryl, Tiff, and I loaded up with Chelsea, Melissa, Abby, and Carla and headed for Dresden, Ohio, the home of Longaberger baskets, for Tiff’s Bachelorette Weekend. We went to the home office, a seven-story basket where they had a huge Christmas tree made out of baskets. Then we went to check out the Factory Store (complete madness) and got to go above and look down on the production floor. We had lunch at the barn on the property and did some shopping in the Longaberger shops before heading to Dresden to do a little shopping. Saturday night we met Squeak at the Easton mall for more shopping and supper at the Cheesecake Factory. Sunday we got up and crammed every square inch of Carla’s Escalade with our purchases, then stopped on the way home at the Warm Glow candle store to buy some more stuff, before making Ruben wait on us for lunch in Indy on the way home. What a fun weekend! 11.6.2009
