Tread Lightly

Norm bought himself a late Christmas/early birthday present last weekend, so I did the same for myself this weekend (this is a dangerous cycle we have going)...

Tread Lightly

Woohoo!

Stay tuned. Now that I'm almost caught up, it's time to finish editing and posting baby pictures!!

Frosty Morning

Last week I went out to start my truck one morning and realized it was beautiful frosty morning! I didn’t have time to snap any shots on the way to work, but I did take a few pictures around our yard while the truck was warming up.

I definitely notice a lot more beautiful scenes like these around me since I’ve really gotten into photography. Does anyone else feel like they’re constantly seeing the world through the lens of a camera??

Full-On Nerdy Day

Last weekend Cass and I drove to Avon to sit at Barnes & Noble with our computers to edit pictures, digi scrap, browse the books, sip our Chai Tea Lattes, and chat. It was a totally awesome full on nerdy day and we loved it! I got a lot of my 365 scrapbook done that day, found a few books to buy as gifts, and we talked about so many exciting things going on in our lives. We will definitely have to do this again before spring!

Recipe: Norm's Mexican Bake

This recipe is something that Norm and I have been making for a while, so I decided I’d finally share it. Norm totally made this up, so feel free to add and subtract ingredients to fit what you like.

Norm’s Mexican Bake

Recipe: Norm's Mexican Bake
Does anyone else find it hilarious that both recipes I've posted look exactly the same when done? We like our cheese. =)

Mix up two batches of Jiffy cornbread and bake in a 9x13 casserole dish according to the directions on the box. While this is baking, fry one pound of hamburger and mix with taco seasoning according to the directions on the seasoning packet.

Smooth one can of refried beans over the top of the cornbread.

Cover the refried bean layer with the pound of seasoned hamburger.

Top with shredded cheese (we usually use both mozzarella and cheddar...and a LOT, as you can see).

Bake at 350 until the cheese is melted.

Top your serving with sour cream (YUM-O), salsa, taco sauce, hot sauce, etc. I think this would also be good with diced onion or peppers.

What are some of your go-to recipes?

Another Snow Day

A couple weeks ago we had some serious snow fall over a few days. Not like a foot or anything, but enough to make it difficult for some people to get to work and to be an annoyance to the rest of us. And although it was annoying and makes driving a pain and I’d be perfectly happy for that to be our last snow this year (ha!), it was still beautiful and I couldn’t resist taking pictures on the way to work (yes, I drive 30mph on the curvy, hilly road to work in 7 inches of snow with my window down and a camera in one hand and I make it just fine thankyouverymuch).

I just noticed the reflection in my hood. Cool!

Finally almost home...

Snow Day

When I got home Oscar and I took a little walk around the yard for some more snowy pictures.

Snow Day

This is what I usually get when I’m trying to take his picture.

Snow Day

There we go. Can you see his nose his already heading to his left to check out what’s going on over there? Jeez.

Snow Day

The cows were not as impressed with the snow as Oscar and I were. Opus especially was a little annoyed with my enthusiasm for the snow.

Snow Day

The wind was whipping around the house and filling in between our storm windows and the screen. Check out our heart!

Snow Day

It was enough snow that the bartender and waitresses at Cheeseburger Night couldn’t make it, but by gosh were were going to! This was what the road looked like on the way to Kingman.

Snow Day

Luckily Norm was driving so I could snap a few pictures. Of course, I drive on the way home, so no pictures of how much worse the road got while we were there.

Oh wait! I forgot...I can totally drive in the snow with a camera in one hand!

Books, Books, and More Books

Last year, I set out to read at least one book a month. I ended up reading 23, plus some that I'm finishing up this month.

2009 Book List Post

None of my resolutions have to do with reading this year, but I still have a bookshelf crammed with books waiting to be read, and I've got new ones coming in the mail all the time. What books are on your list to read this year?

Twins!!

Just thought I'd pop in quickly to tell everyone that my cousin Samuel (Cassandra's little brother) and his wife Ashley are the proud new parents of twin girls! Chloe Jade and Kylie Renee were born tonight a little before 6pm after about 15 hours in labor. I couldn't resist the trip to Avon and spent the afternoon and evening hanging out in the waiting room with Cass, Blaise, Loretta, Melvin, Samuel, and Ashley's mom and aunt. Finally around 10:30 tonight we were able to hold Chloe and see Kylie. Kylie is having some difficulty breathing because her lungs aren't fully developed, but the doctors expect her to be perfectly fine and be able to go home soon. Check back soon, there are many more pictures to come!
